Lennox July 26 5% price increase & phasinng out 2 stage units
On July 25 met with our current HVAC company (had Lennox furnace/AC installed 15 years ago) because AC wasn’t working effectively. Technician discovered a leaking coil (have used their maintenance program since day 1). The tech called in a salesman, explained the situation, & salesman came back with proposals. 2 things he said gave me pause: 1. Lennox was increasing their prices the very next day by 5% 2. the salesman reluctantly included a 2 stage system because “they’re being phased out”. His other 3 proposals were all variable speed (1 proposal was for a 10 year leasing program). Was the next day 5% legitimate and are the Lennox 2 stage units being phased out? Thank you in advance.
The 5% increase the next day is very likely true but the rest sounds very suspicious to me.
“Is this before or after you fired the parts cannon at it?” – senior tech
I’m tired of these mediocre “semi flammable” refrigerants. If we’re going to do it let’s do it right.
Unless we change direction we are likely to end up where we are going.

You stuck on Lennox? The other three bids are different manufacturers? They quoting AHRI matched systems, if so money in your pocket rebates come into play if the furnace and A/C meets minimum thresholds of your state/local utility company.
Ask them to do a detailed startup/commissioning report of your system of choice. May want to ask them about the form during negotiations process as it takes more than a few minutes to do a comprehensive checklist, time is money, they may/may not need to adjust bid to take this into consideration.

Register each piece as manufacturers warranty decreases if system never gets registered. California or Quebec need not be registered to receive the manufacturers maximum warranty.
